Emotions
Ever deal with horrible emotions during dieting?
I know I certainly have! It’s that insidious voice within us all…the one that says, you know you’re going to fail, why even bother?
Or perhaps, you’ve been losing weight pretty steadily for some time, and then all of a sudden, you’re hit by an emotional loss or other event that causes you to search out comfort foods and take your mind off of your pain?
What about breaking up with your Significant other…or being smooshed by a lousy performance review….or experiencing great sadness or …. you get what I mean, right?
Emotions can really wreak havoc on any kind of diet. It’s human nature…when you’re hurting, you instinctively search for something that will make the pain go away (say, 3 dozen soft chewy chocolate chip cookies or half a gallon of cookie dough ice cream or ….).
Luckily, however, you can take advantage of the Internet forums that abound online and get support when you need it. Here are some great resources for dealing with emotions while dieting:
- Inner Self Emotional Eaters
- SparkPeople Emotional Eating Support Groups
